As you would expect, console gaming is alive and well. For hardcore gamers or those that enjoy playing on their home television, you may want to go in this direction. One area that has been pushed back a bit is handheld gaming systems. The Sony PSP is one example that didn’t do so well. However, there is reason to be optimistic. The wildcard in this discussion are the alternatives to traditional gaming options. Smartphones and similar devices, such as the iPad and iPod Touch, have done a lot of damage. One near victim has been the handheld gaming industry, for example. With cheap gaming apps and some impressive titles, all in a very convenient place (one’s smartphone), it is no surprise that this has caught on.
Gamers have a wealth of options. Whether you want the traditional gaming system with high quality, the balance of value and quality, or the unique and advancing alternatives, gamers can rejoice in today’s market.
